Remembering Dennis Reinbold, Owner of Dreyer & Reinbold Racing

Dennis Reinbold, founder of Dreyer and Reinbold Racing and a lifelong servant of the Indianapolis 500, passed away at the age of 65 after a prolonged battle with cancer. At Wedbush, we join the entire IndyCar community in mourning his passing and honoring everything he built.

Our relationship with Dennis and the DRR organization gave us a front-row seat to something truly rare: a racing team built not on unlimited resources, but on loyalty, belief, and an unshakable love for the sport. In a paddock dominated by the largest and best-funded operations in the world, Dennis showed up every May at Indianapolis and competed. He did not just participate. He competed.

That spirit was personal to him. Dennis grew up in the shadow of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, shaped by his grandfather Floyd “Pop” Dreyer, a mechanic and car builder from the early days of American open-wheel racing. He carried that family legacy into everything DRR became, and the team’s name was his way of making sure Pop was never forgotten.

For Wedbush, the partnership with DRR was more than a sponsorship. It was an alignment of values. Decades of steady commitment, putting people first, and doing things the right way. Those principles live at the core of who we are as a firm, and they were evident in everything Dennis stood for as a team owner, a competitor, and a person.

We are incredibly grateful for the time we had as his partner, and for everything we learned alongside him and his team. Our thoughts are with his family and the entire DRR organization, and with the broader motorsport community that is feeling this loss deeply.

Dennis Reinbold built something that will last. The Indy 500 will carry his name and his legacy every May for years to come.
