For Rebecca Hern, Managing Director of Investments and Financial Consultant in Charge (FCIC) in Dallas, financial advising is about more than managing numbers—it’s about building trust, empowering clients, and fostering meaningful change. With a career that spans banking, wealth management, and community service, Rebecca embodies the spirit of leadership and giving back.
A Career Focused on Holistic Wealth Management
Rebecca’s journey to Wedbush Securities reflects her dedication to providing a comprehensive approach to wealth management. After earning her degree from Auburn University with a bachelor’s in finance, Rebecca began her career in lending and banking. “I worked in banking and on the retail side for a long time and then also in the private bank,” Rebecca explains. “From there, I was able to develop a clientele that I could transition to be an advisor.”
Since joining Wedbush nearly a year ago, Rebecca has embraced her role as Managing Director and FCIC, working closely with families to develop realistic and effective financial plans. Reflecting on her role, she shared, “It’s just really rewarding to be able to see people come from one part of their struggle and they get through things… and have their life in a different place than when they started.”
Returning to Dallas: A Commitment to Community
After years of working in Lexington, Kentucky, Rebecca returned to Dallas, the city she was raised in. “During COVID, I reconnected with several of my friends from high school… I came to Dallas and rented an Airbnb and worked for about a month and a half,” she recalls. “During that time, I just realized that I really missed being in Dallas and in Texas.”
Today, she’s proud to be growing Wedbush’s presence in Dallas while giving back to the community she loves. “The opportunity to lead here in Dallas was another reason that I made the decision, so I could be back here full time and, you know, living in a city that I grew up in,” Rebecca shares.
Giving Back with Givingmas
Rebecca’s commitment to service is most evident in her role as an ambassador for Givingmas. Introduced to the organization in 2021, she quickly saw an opportunity to make a difference. “Mike [Keating], the founder, really needed somebody that could help with the financial side of things… to kind of take it to the next level,” Rebecca explains. “He wanted to have somebody be involved with each family on the financial side.”
Through Givingmas, Rebecca meets regularly with families to provide guidance on budgeting, repairing credit, and achieving long-term financial goals. One of her proudest moments involved helping a man improve his credit score. “A man working at Waffle House… his credit was probably in the low 500s, and now he has over a 700 credit score. He’s still cooking at different restaurants here in town, but he’s also created his own spice line,” she shares. “Being able to help somebody feel confident enough in themselves to go out and start their own business… is a true success story.”
The Ripple Effect of Giving Back
Givingmas’ mission resonates deeply with Rebecca, who grew up in a family dedicated to service. “My parents have worked with a specific orphanage in Africa and Kenya for the last 20 years,” she says. “That’s always been something that’s very important to our family, as far as helping and making sure that we’re doing something that’s more than ourselves.”
Givingmas’ approach to creating sustainable change makes it especially impactful. “It’s a hand up, not a handout,” Rebecca explains. “When you do good for others in your community, other people that receive those good things are going to do good things for others.”
The Day of Givingmas: A Celebration of Impact
Rebecca is especially excited for the 10th Annual Day of Givingmas on December 12. “This year’s event will feature live music, auctions, and a special surprise for one of the families,” she says. “It’s going to be awesome.”
Empowering Communities, One Family at a Time
Rebecca credits Wedbush Securities for fostering a culture that values community involvement. “Wedbush has been great. Anything I ask from Wedbush, they very much try to make happen within reason,” she says. “They’ve been very supportive of the organization and wanting Wedbush to be a part of something like this.”
Looking Ahead
As Rebecca continues to lead in both her professional and philanthropic endeavors, she remains focused on empowering others. Her work at Wedbush and her involvement with Givingmas are driven by a shared commitment to helping families build brighter futures through financial stability and education.
